Ecolab 100

Client: Ecolab
Year: 2023
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Studio: ADVOC8

In honor of Ecolab’s 100-year anniversary, our team brought together over 4,000 guests for an unforgettable party at the U.S. Bank Stadium. Marking a century of meaningful progress, Ecolab proved a simple truth: individual actions matter—and when combined, they create lasting, collective impact.

Ecolab’s decades-long mission to combine innovation and sustainability came to life in four distinct activations showcased at this event. These activations included an immersive LED experience named The Power of Water, an interactive Clean Cocktail Lab that emphasized the power of Ecolab’s Science Certified services, and The Infinite Innovation Gallery, which showcased Ecolab’s past and present inventions.

The fourth activation consisted of cutting-edge RFID technology and a 17-foot-tall, "Impact Spark" that shined bright as the focal point of the night. Guests were encouraged to engage with the spark by tapping their wristbands on the screen of the activation continuously throughout the event. With each tap, the spark came to life through color, brightness, pattern and motion. This dynamic spark sculpture was a nod to the event's theme of how each individual action can lead to 100% collective impact.

The event peaked with several key announcements from Ecolab’s CEO and a performance by Kelly Clarkson. At the conclusion of the event, my team and I successfully built an experience that showed attendees the power of partnership to improve the overall well-being of people, planet, and business.

Activation 1:

The Power of Water

An immersive LED experience narrated from the POV of water. This activation highlighted Ecolab’s Water for Climate initiatives to advance sustainable growth within their industry.

Activation 2:

The Innovation Gallery

A gallery of future Ecolab innovations manned by experts and brought to life with swooping walls covered in bold graphics. This exhibit showcased Ecolab’s latest innovations, as well as their impact on the next 100 years.

Activation 3:

The Clean Cocktail Lab

A custom craft-cocktail experience tied to the values of Ecolab’s Science Certified services. This activation included the Base Bar, where guests received their base drinks. A syrup dispensary station called the Mixer Lab, which showcased various infographics related to Ecolab’s sustainable work standards. The Garnish Garden, where guests further personalized their beverages with mixers, bitters, and aromas. Finally, a tunnel where they “sealed” their cocktail with a color-changing splash of citrus and joined their friends in the Rest Easy Lounge.

Activation 4:

The Impact Spark

A symbol of collective impact through individual actions and the literal star of the show.

My Role

While I was involved in concepting and the design of the event across the board, my role specifically focused on making the overall graphic look-and-feel of the event. I collaborated directly with the Graphic Design Creative Director to brainstorm event-specific brand concepts, and visualized these ideations through mood boards, mock-ups, and sketches.

Once a brand direction was chosen, I worked on developing various large-scale and small-scale print graphics, including a signage and wayfinding system. I was also integral in creating the designs on the large-scale organic walls that encompassed the celebration. Lastly, I partook in designing the graphics showcased in the Clean Cocktail Lab activation.
