The Back-to-School Shop by Amazon
Client: Amazon

Amazon’s goal extended beyond simply distributing supplies, it was also about addressing a sensitive social issue with care and respect. Too often, receiving aid can carry a stigma. To counter this, we designed an experience that emphasized dignity and empowerment by giving families the freedom to choose the items that best fit their needs.
The activation recreated the feel of a traditional retail back-to-school section, offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Upon arrival, families were greeted by Amazon volunteers, given a short tour, a shopping guide, and a suggested list of supplies. They were then invited to browse and select from a wide array of items, such as books, craft materials, writing tools, organizational supplies, and clothes, including a lookbook showcasing various outfits familes could order online at Amazon.com free of charge.
By creating a flexible, choice-driven space, we helped families personalize their shopping experience, making them feel confident, supported, and ready for the school year ahead.

My Role
I helped establish the visual identity for the event and designed a variety of print materials to enhance the overall experience. My work included creating a signage and wayfinding system, producing multi-colored supply zones, designing supply lists, and developing event swag. A key highlight was my responsibility for the complete design of the event lookbook. In addition to layout and design, I researched and curated clothing items from Amazon.com and styled outfits tailored to students in grades K–12.
